Cloud Computing...anyone?

It is worth noting that wherever you are in the world, whatever situation you are in, whatever home you live in and wherever your work takes you, we all exist under the same sky and it is that everpresent sky and the fluffy and occasionally intriguing-looking clouds that swim in the wide open blue that binds all of us.

In IT network diagrams, the cloud represents the internet. Whatever that drives the applications, the web servers, the technology that exist in the cloud should not concern you.  You would just like to venture forth into this cloud via your favourite browser and surf, download, upload, playback and listen.

Access to the internet is almost a pre-requisite for owning a computer, so it is about time that since the internet has become almost as ubiquitous as blue jeans, that WE start making full use of its potential to not only interlink networks and PCs and servers, but to also be our source for data warehousing and backup storage.

Ditch those expensive tape drives and tape cartridges, reduce the number of external hard drives you have in your archive of backups, send your critical data backup to the cloud. Your mind willl rest easy knowing that your backups are safe and physically stored far away from your office, assuring easy recovery when that workplace turns into a disaster zone.

What is next?...cloud based servers...so that you do not need to blow your budget on hefty power bills running your very own server or servers in your office and paying for licenses...(exchange server in the cloud, anyone?)    ...and you get to save the environment too...but that is another story which we can elaborate on if you have the patience to hear This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   out.
